JEE Main 2026 Session 2: NTA Confirms Result Declaration Date for April

NEW DELHI – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially confirmed that the results for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 will be declared on April 20, 2026. This announcement brings to an end the anxious wait for over 12 lakh engineering aspirants who appeared for the country’s most competitive entrance exam across various shifts in April.

The Final Percentile and All India Ranks (AIR)

Unlike Session 1, which provided only NTA scores, the Session 2 results will include the All India Ranks (AIR) and the category-wise cut-off for JEE Advanced. The NTA will use a normalization process based on the difficulty level of different shifts to ensure fairness. For students who appeared in both sessions, the agency will consider the “best of two” scores for the final ranking.

What to Expect on Result Day

  • Final Answer Key: The NTA will release the Final Answer Key a few hours before the results, incorporating all valid challenges raised by students during the objection window.

  • Scorecards: Candidates can download their scorecards from jeemain.nta.nic.in. The document will display the total percentile, subject-wise scores, and the qualifying status for JEE Advanced.

  • The 75% Rule: The NTA has reiterated that the eligibility criteria of 75% marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST) will be strictly enforced for admissions into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

Tight Competition for Top Percentiles

Initial data suggests that the competition for the 99th percentile has intensified this year due to the increased number of unique candidates. Education experts predict a slight jump in the qualifying cut-off for the General category compared to 2025, driven by the overall improvement in student performance during the April session.

The Road Ahead

The top 2,50,000 successful candidates from the JEE Main merit list will be eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2026, the gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Registration for Advanced is expected to begin within 48 hours of the Main result declaration.

“We have streamlined the evaluation process using advanced data verification to ensure the results are released with 100% accuracy,” stated a senior NTA official. “Students are advised to keep their application number and password ready for instant access.”
