PRAYAGRAJ: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has officially announced the final results for the Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) Recruitment 2026 for the Social Science discipline. The long-awaited merit list, featuring the names and roll numbers of the successful candidates, was uploaded to the commission’s official portal, uppsc.up.nic.in, late last evening.
Selection Overview
This recruitment drive was aimed at filling critical teaching vacancies in government-aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. The selection process for the Social Science cadre was particularly competitive, given the high volume of applicants from History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics backgrounds. The final merit list has been prepared based on the consolidated scores of the written examination and the weightage given to higher academic qualifications (B.Ed/M.Ed) as per the updated 2026 guidelines.

For the Unreserved (UR) category, the cut-off is estimated to be around 84.5%, while for the OBC and SC/ST categories, it stands at approximately 79% and 72% respectively. The commission will release the detailed marksheet and category-wise cut-off marks on the portal within the next 48 hours.
Mandatory Document Verification (DV)
The release of the merit list marks the beginning of the final administrative stage: Document Verification. Selected candidates are required to report to the UPPSC headquarters in Prayagraj according to the schedule that will be mailed to their registered addresses.
Essential Documents for DV:

Original Admit Card and a printed copy of the Application Form.
-
High School and Intermediate Marksheets/Certificates.

Graduation Degree and Subject-wise Marksheets.

Next Steps for Waiting List Candidates
The commission has also released a supplementary “Waiting List” consisting of candidates who are next in line. In the event that selected candidates fail to turn up for document verification or are found ineligible, these vacancies will be filled by candidates from the waiting list in order of their rank.
The successful induction of these teachers is expected to significantly improve the student-teacher ratio in Uttar Pradesh’s secondary education system before the start of the next academic session in July.
